Casey began his maritime career by enrolling in the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in 2011. Just two years later, our group had the pleasure of working with him during his 2013 Ship Superintendent Internship with Detyens Shipyards, Inc. After graduating from USMMA with a B.S. in Marine Engineering and Shipyard Management in 2015, Casey enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve’s Strategic Sealift Officer Force and served for several years with Military Sealift Command (MSC). During his time with MSC, he sailed aboard one US Navy Emory S. Land-class submarine tender, two Supply-class fast combat support ships, and two Lewis and Clark-class dry cargo ships; he also sailed previously aboard four other vessels while in the USMMA. With experience in maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of electrical and mechanical vessel machinery, execution and oversight of engineering tasks involving various vessel systems, and damage control training and implementation, Casey was well prepared when he began training to become a chemist in 2020. He was certified by 2022 and completed hundreds of inspections in Texas prior to joining our team in July of 2023.
